Who We Are
The three of us are the basis of SAIL - and we hope to expand the local faith leaders who are a key element of religious literacy in St Albans
Akhtar Zaman
Adam Zagoria-Moffet
Akhtar has lived in St Albans for over 50 years. As a Computer Science graduate, he has spent his working career with several multinational software companies. He has travelled to over 30 countries worldwide, experiencing many varied cultures and religions.
Akhtar grew up in St. Albans and has been active from a young age with many voluntary organisations and charities. He has served and represented the communities over the past 30 years on various committees; currently, this includes being a trustee and chairman St Albans Islamic Centre.
Faith has been an active part of his life and interfaith work is key part of living in a diverse St Albans faith community. The focus has been mostly in St Albans, however there are clear links to our neighbouring interfaith initiatives across Hertfordshire.
In 2016 Akhtar was honoured to be appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, and has since supported many organisations and charities across the county
Adam Zagoria-Moffet is the rabbi of St. Albans Masorti Synagogue in the UK. He was ordained from the Jewish Theological Seminary where he also received an MA in Jewish Thought.
